Prior Lake Student Hand-Sews 100 School Bags for Homeless Children.
One Prior Lake 5th-grader is making a direct impact on kids in need. Sanya Pirani sewed 100 school bags by hand to give to homeless youth. On Thursday, she teamed up with Sen. Amy Klobuchar and Mary Jo Copeland, who is the founder of Sharing & Caring Hands, to hand out her bags, which are now filled with school supplies.
“Hunger and poverty are intertwined and have no borders, however, human dignity is tied to every other person on earth,” Pirani said. Pirani sewed the bags over the summer months. She also recently coordinated a food drive that collected more than 1,300 pounds of food.
