Sanya's Charity work for Scott County Food Shelf.
As you all know that Sanya is running 2 charity project at the same time. She have been super busy with school, extra curriculum activities and her charity work. I decided to give you updates on her caring and compassionate journey. Her food shelf project have been in active for some time. Just recently, she heard that during school holidays food shelf really gets busy because more and more people will be using food shelf help because school is the source of subsides or free lunch for many Minnesotans so she decided to do something about that.
Did you know
One in 10 Minnesotans, or more than 500,000 state residents, experience food insecurity on a regular basis. That is more people than attended Minnesota Vikings home games during the 2014 regular season. Sanya and I didn’t know that until we received this information from Jo (VP of development and Marketing on Cap agency-Scott County.
Sanya decided to do something about that. She wanted to contact Library managers to see if library could do partnership with her in collecting nonperishable food items. She thought many local people come to libraries with their children on school holidays so why know use library as platform to help. She talk to me if I could reach out to Janet who is the Chaska Library Manager, Hillary –Manager of Prior Lake Library and Barb –Manager of Shakopee Library since she is in school during working hours. When we heard positive response from all 3 library than Sanya said “Mother why we don’t reach out to entire Scott County Libraries”. I thought Sanya’s idea was great so I contacted Jake Grussing who is Scott county Library director who immediately agreed to partner with Sanya’s food shelf project.
Now, Sanya is really pumped up and excited for partnering with all Scott County and Chaska Library to collect Nonperishable food items for the local the Scott county CAP Agency - food shelf in entire month of June and July. Her Goal for each library is $500 x 8 libraries= $4000 worth of nonperishable food items for local Food Shelf by the end of July, 2015.
Here is Sanya’s Message to all caring and compassionate local Minnesotans:
